What to Expect During a Hypnotherapy Session
Roadmap of Your First Session
Your first session is 90 minutes to allow plenty of time for connection, questions, and exploration. All subsequent sessions are 60 minutes.
Currently, only virtual or on-site sessions (depending on time and location) are offered.
Step 1: We Discuss Your Goal / Where You Feel Stuck
We begin by gently exploring the roots of your challenges: how it shows up in your work and life, and how stress, pressure, or demands may be influencing your nervous system.
From there, I create a personalized hypnotherapy experience designed to support emotional resilience, mental clarity, and grounded high-level performance, using language and guided imagery that feels natural and meaningful to you.
Step 2: Theory of Mind (First Session Only)
In your first session, we’ll introduce the Theory of Mind, a powerful framework to help you understand how the subconscious works, and why lasting change requires more than just willpower. This insight lays the foundation for everything we’ll do together.
Step 3: Suggestibility Testing (First Session Only)
Every subconscious mind is responsive to suggestion, though each person processes information differently. Through brief assessments, I identify how your mind naturally takes in and responds to information, an approach rooted in Kappasinian hypnosis, which recognizes that meaningful change happens when communication is tailored to the individual. This allows your hypnotherapy session to be thoughtfully customized for greater effectiveness and lasting results.
Step 4: We Enter Hypnosis
You’ll settle into a comfortable position in a quiet space, where I’ll gently guide you into a calm, focused state similar to deep meditation. Your mind remains aware, while the thinking mind softens enough to access the subconscious patterns that influence stress, behavior, and performance.
Through carefully chosen language and guided imagery aligned with your goals, we support the release of outdated beliefs and the integration of more supportive ones. The process is collaborative, safe, and respectful. You remain fully aware and in control throughout.
Step 5: We Return and Reflect
I’ll guide you back to full awareness, and we’ll spend a few moments reflecting on what you noticed and how you feel coming out of the session.
Step 6: Reinforcement Between Sessions
Following each session, you’ll receive a personalized audio recording that reinforces the suggestions and imagery used during hypnosis. Listening to this in the days that follow helps deepen integration and allows new perspectives and patterns to take hold more naturally. Depending on your goals, I may also suggest simple, practical tools to support your progress between sessions, such as reflective prompts, nervous-system–supportive practices, or brief exercises designed to extend the work into daily life.
Step 7: You Begin to Feel the Shift
Many people begin to notice subtle but meaningful shifts even after the first session: greater calm, increased clarity, or a sense of emotional ease. Other changes continue to unfold gradually as the subconscious integrates the work over time. There’s no effort required on your part. Your mind and body already know how to move toward balance and change; our work simply creates the right conditions, with clear direction and skilled guidance, for that process to take place.
How to Prepare for a Virtual Session
Choose a private, quiet space where you can fully relax and won’t be interrupted. This might be a bedroom, home office, or any environment where you feel comfortable and at ease.
Please plan to give the session your full attention. For safety and effectiveness, do not drive or multitask during your appointment.
Silence notifications and let others in your home know you’ll be unavailable during this time. If possible, I recommend joining from a computer rather than a phone to minimize distractions.
Headphones are encouraged, as they improve sound quality and help support deeper focus during the session.
Have a glass of water nearby and allow yourself to get comfortable: soft lighting, blankets, or anything that helps you feel settled is welcome.
Please refrain from consuming alcohol or using recreational substances for at least 24 hours prior to your session.
Come with an open, curious mindset rather than specific expectations. Hypnotherapy works best when you allow the process to unfold naturally.
